More than 100 artists from all over the East Coast displayed works to spectators on Sept. 7 for the 41st Annual Bethany Beach Boardwalk Arts Festival.
Tim Petricoin, a first-time attendee, said he decided to attend the event while vacationing in Bethany.
“We saw the big crowd at the boardwalk and decided to check it out,” said Petricoin. “Just something for us to do.”
Petricoin was not the only one interested in checking out the spectacle, as hundreds of people flocked to the boardwalk to view and buy various art pieces.
Dan Duffy, an artist based out of Philadelphia, said, “A few of my friends are local business owners around the beach area and I heard about the event through them. This is the third year I have participated.”
Duffy started creating his art eight years ago. He brings words to life through his art, which are often depicting pictures of famous Philadelphia symbols.
Adam Meier, a festival volunteer, was part of a group of people who made the event itself possible. Without its volunteers, the event would continue to be so successful to this day.
“The event has grown a lot since last year. We have more artists’ work on display this year, and the turnout is much larger than the past couple of years,” said Meier.
The festival not only benefits the artists displaying their work, but the town of Bethany with all the visitors coming and enjoying the shops and restaurants.
