We all scream for Ice Cream

By Kacy Cassat

The Student Government Association, at Delaware Technical Community College, Owens Campus, let the students inner child free, by having a free sundae bar April 11 in the Dining Hall at the Student Services Center.

At the free sundae bar, Candy Fortney, a volunteer and Delaware Tech student, was helping students pick their favorite toppings for their ice cream, from sprinkles, to chocolate chips and whipped cream.

“It has been really busy so far,” said Fortney. “We just served about 40 high school students that were viewing the campus.”

Caitlyn Timko, SGA Vice President, and Aaron Lester, SGA Treasurer, were helping scoop ice cream for the students.

Timko said this was the perfect event for the students with the great spring weather lately.

“The sundae bar is also promoting for the free indoor movie at the arts and science center tonight,” said Timko. “They will be showing the ‘Hunger Games’.”

The funds the SGA uses for social events comes from the student services fee all students pay when they register. The SGA’s main goal is to use those funds for the students’ benefit by providing events such as Roady Fest, International Day, and the Sundae Bar.
