The Campus Crusade for Christ wants you

By Bryce Evans

The Campus Crusade for Christ “Cru” is an organization of Christians at Delaware Technical Community College Owens campus that meet every Monday in the executive dining hall, next to Java 101 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

The first and third Monday of every month is Bible study, where members read and comprehend the Bible and its lessons. The current bible study, called Crazy Love, is about developing a more genuine faith.

Every second Monday of the month is praise and worship, where the Cru sings and plays songs. The fourth week of the month is Game Day where the Cru gets together, brings board games and snacks. Meeting attendance varies from 4 to 15 people.

“I do believe the Cru makes me become a more successful student from all the positive interactions. It also makes me a lot less stressed,” Chelsea Lyon, a member of Cru, said.

One of the Cru leaders, Cat Timko said, “Cru is a really relaxed environment, it’s kind of a de-stresser.”

Cru is part of a national ministry and has groups at many other schools. At the Owens campus the group is led by Timko and Hannah Reed, both students at Delaware Tech.

There was a Cru Fall retreat recently at Camp Pecometh with the Cru groups at Salisbury University and Wilmington University.

“We do want to go sing at nursing homes this semester, or maybe a car wash,” Reed said. “We do want to get out there more for retreats; it’s just hard to coordinate everything.”

The Cru meetings are scheduled on the MyDTCC.edu homepage and also on the Cru Facebook page: CampusCrusadeforChrist@DelawareTechOwensCampus.
