PTK holds weekly meeting at Stanton

Phi Theta Kappa discussed a variety of subjects at its Oct. 12 meeting at Delaware Technical Community College Stanton, Campus with a main focus on prison policy and volunteering opportunities for events.

Volunteer opportunities were offered to students including helping on a panel former football player Kevin Reilly was taking part of on Oct. 13 and 24. Prison policies were discussed such as how inmates may feel incarcerated and how they deal with being in the system.

Phi Theta Kappa is an honor sorority for two-year colleges rewarding students on their academic achievements throughout their time at a community college.

To be eligible for membership, students must be working towards their associates degree with a cumulative GPA of a 3.5. Students can also highlight membership details on their resume when applying for colleges allowing applications stand out from the normal crowd.

PTK offers many different opportunities for students. For instance, some student may have interest in furthering their academia at a four-year university and being a member of PTK allows for numerous scholarship opportunities.

“Phi Theta Kappa offers a numerous amount of opportunities for students including scholarships, networking and access to four-year universities,” said chapter advisor Mike McCloskey.
