3rd Annual Taste of Sposato 5K Run/Walk
The Sposato Family Vineyard held its 3rd Annual Taste of Sposato Wine 5K Run/Walk, on Sept. 23 for runners who would not let the rain slow them down.
The event is held to raise money for the Sposato Scholarship Fund for Landscape and Ornamental Horticulture students at Delaware Technical Community College.
Event organizer and VP of Marketing and Sales at Sposato Family Vineyards, Karen Howard Sposato, said,“I hope, with this event, that everybody is more aware of how important our soils are and that this is where our food comes from.”
The Sposato Landscaping headquarters in Milton was home to the event that included the 5K run/walk, a wine tasting, a raffle, and an informational booth put together by students from the Landscape and Ornamental Horticulture program at Delaware Tech.
Alyssa Simon, event organizer, said, “I’ve been helping out with this event since the beginning and each year it gets bigger and better.”
DJ Hughes, an event attendee, said, “It’s a great event for me and my family to get out of the house.”
One hundred and thirteen people participated in the race which consisted of 20 divisions made up of male and female and different age groups.
The overall male winner was Reginaldo Hernandez, 18, from Georgetown, who had a time of 18 minutes and 20 seconds. The overall female winner was Meryl Ludwig, 52, form Boyds, Maryland, who held a time of 22 minutes and 44 seconds.
