Tech Festival welcomes students

Delaware Technical Community College at the Owens Campus held a Tech Festival Sept. 18-19 allowing different clubs to come together and interact with the students.

Students who were either passing by as they waited for their classes to start, leaving their current class, or even hanging out with friends were able to play games, get free candy, and become informed about the clubs the Owens Campus offers. Clubs such as the Study Abroad Club, Phi Theta Kappa, The National FFA Organization, and The Performing Arts Club were some of the clubs to attend the event.

Hailee Russem, a second-year accounting student, attended the event while waiting for one of her evening classes to begin.

“The club members were really friendly and informative. It was nice being able to have a sneak peek into what the clubs really holds for students,” said Russem.

International Education Coordinator for the Study Abroad Club, Amy Russell, attended the event to help spread the word about the Study Abroad program.

Russell said, “It’s a great opportunity to share, especially in the afternoon and evening. Lots of students see us during the day, but the night students really don’t have the chance to get as much information as early as the day students.”

Russell held an interactive game stimulation for students to try and figure out the locations pointed out in song lyrics.

“We’re all in one place. Everyone can walk around, meet with new people, and create connections” said Russell.
