Student Government Association host the Mardi Gras Ball for Student Life
Delaware Technical Community College, Owens Campus Student Government Association hosted the Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball on April 16, bringing students together to socialize.
Campus Activities Board Co-Vice President Helen Gress said CAB plans the events for the Owens Campus.
“We are in charge of all the activities on campus. We plan them, execute them and run them,” said Gress.
Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball is part of Student Life on the Owens Campus. Gress said it’s still the Black and White Ball.
“Mardi Gras is just the theme this year,” said Gress.
Students and faculty attended this event.
Student Government Treasurer Sam Parsons said it’s a time to come together.
“The Mardi Gras Ball, just like many of the Student Life events, is just to bring the student body together and let them have a good time,” said Parsons.
Students and their guests came eloquently dressed and prepared to dance.
“Mostly everybody in college have been through high school. You’re used to having proms and homecomings in high school, well this is our little spin off for Student Life,” said Parsons.
Delaware Tech employee Kelli Dunt, who works in the Communications and Planning Department, came out to volunteer her time.
“I’m here to chaperone and enjoy Student Life here on campus,” said Dunt. “This is my third year volunteering and just having fun watching the students come in with their dresses, watch them dance and have a good time.”
Drug and Alcohol Counseling student Lori Brown enjoyed showing the guests a few dance steps.
“This is the only way to enjoy yourself,” said Brown.
