Performing Arts Club host Valentine’s Day Character Dinner
The atmosphere was set with elegant décor, candle lights and chocolates on the table. A three-course meal, including dessert was served while actors and actresses portrayed characters from the movie “Clue,” while they mixed and mingled with the guest. Delaware Technical Community College Owens Campus’ Performing Arts Club hosted a Valentine’s Day Character Dinner in the dining hall in the student service center building on Feb. 12.
Mr. Wadsworth, the butler played by Corey Stull, greeted guest and escorted them to their seats. Other characters who mingled with guest were Mr. Green, Miss Scarlet, Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum, Col. Mustard and Mr. John Boddy.
Gayle Parola, advisor of the Performing Arts Club, said this evening was a precursor to the Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre they will be performing in the spring.
“Valentine’s Day was perfect, we could do a nice dinner and it would be something that would pull people in,” Parola said.
The Performing Arts Club is hosting two big events. One being the talent show held in the fall and then a production of their choice in the spring.
“We’ll have a lot of digital marketing, we’ll have it up on the digital screen, you’ll be able to buy tickets online,” Parola said.
Club Membership is open to all students and it cost $1 for the year. Meetings are held every Tuesdays from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the theatre.
Gayle Parola is proud of her students, “I love my students, they work very, very hard, they try hard to create characters and to be characters,” Parola said.
James Bandeira, Communications major and the Vice President of the Performing Arts Club, said he loves entertaining people.
“I love acting, I love performing. I always feel just so natural. And the ironic thing is, I feel so natural being another character,” Bandeira said.
