Study Abroad Club has big plans for the future

The Study Abroad Club meeting on Dec. 2 at Delaware Technical Community College turned out to be all business to help the club plan its events for the spring. What was supposed to be a meeting about the Study Abroad trip to Peru, turned into a meeting discussing these future plans.

The club members were able to come up with plenty of ideas for the club. Co-sponsoring Global Understanding events, selling loyalty cards and even a trip to Washington D.C. were topics of discussion.

Cheyenne Wood, a member of the Study Abroad Club, is a strong supporter of having events on campus.

“We are such a small group that we only do events off campus and meetings on campus,” said Wood. “We need something to show that we’re here.”

The topics of the meeting were to co-sponsor the Global Understanding Snack event in January and discuss the club’s trip to the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C..

Members of the Study Abroad Club suggested games with prizes, decorations and even providing some of the snacks needed for the Global Understanding event.

The other topic, in which the club members spent well over 30 minutes debating, was the details of the Cherry Blossom Festival trip.

“We want to sponsor an event mainly to promote this trip since not many people know about it,” said Wood.

The trip takes place during spring break on April 16 leaving time to work on promotion.

The Study Abroad Club is also currently looking for more members to help plan even more events for the club and make more students aware of the Study Abroad Club.
