Have you ever dreamed of visiting New York City for free? Now it’s your chance!

Owen Campus of Delaware Technical Community College is once again offering a trip to New York City for students who wish to spend a fun day in the city on Thursday, Nov. 12.

Reservations are $20 and the bus will drop students off at 34th St. in front of Macy’s to spend the day in New York City. The reservation fee will be returned to students before departing the bus in the city.

Delaware Tech Academic Counselor Denise Berry said students look forward to the trip and new experiences.

“Some of our students have never been to New York, so it’s a big deal for them,” Berry said.

Berry said the trip is the opportunity to put down books just for a day and enjoy the city filled with people, restaurants and shopping.

“There’s so many things to do while you’re there,” she said.

This is the third New York trip for Delaware Tech students, Berry said. Those who can’t attend in the fall, will have another chance in the spring semester.

Delaware Tech General Business major Anette Aguillon went to New York City last year for the first time. She said she spent her day shopping and sightseeing with her friends on Times Square.

Aguillon said going on a trip with the school was a great experience for free and she would recommend any student to go this year.

“Usually to go to New York, there are tolls, traffic, and just the whole hassle of getting there,” she said. “It could be a little bit more expensive than going with school.”

Human Services major Kelmarys Perez said she has never traveled that far outside Delaware. Visiting New York last year for the first time was an eye-opening experience for her.

“It was really exciting,” she said. “I was shocked because I’ve never been to a place like that.”

Perez said she was captivated by the city’s energy, and she wished she could see more of New York at night.

“When you get there, it’s so catchy,” she said. “The city never sleeps.”

So far 12 students reserved their spots and there’s 13 seats left to claim. The last day to reserve a ticket is Nov. 4.
