Flower, Perennials, and Trees, Oh My!

Guess what, Delaware Tech? The campus has greenhouses!
Delaware Technical Community College Owens Campus Agricultural majors have once again initiated the Fall Plant Sale.
The Agricultural building has a few greenhouses where the agriculture majors do field work, like hydroponics, or growing plants without soil, and is also the home of the annual fund raiser.
The plant sale isn't only for gathering funds; in fact, Christel Folke, the head of the plant sale, says the plant sale is part of an educational lab the Agricultural students go through. Every single one of the plants is grown, watered, and nurtured by the students.
“They take care of the plants up until the plants are sold,” Folke said.
And it makes sense for the students to take care of them. Hands-on experience is as important as it is fun and practical.
Folke also says that poinsettias will be available in December, and deck boxes and vegetables will be available in the Spring.
The supply is limited to what is in stock, especially the mums.
The greenhouses are located behind the Carter Building on the left.
